CLUB HISTORY

The Club is currently in its 5th year in the Macarthur District Soccer Football Association competition.

The club was founded in 1999, in name only, until lengthy decisions with the Camden Council to acknowledge the need for a club within the Mt Annan District. After several meetings with Council it was decided that the establishment of the club would utilise Birriwa Reserve, where the club formally commenced playing in the MDSFA competition, with a membership of 120 players.

Since the clubs initial player membership the club has now grown to a membership of 500 in five years with a growth rate of 100% membership each year. Due to the number of teams, 35 which includes all ages and from u6’s through too Senior All Age men encompassing both junior and senior girl’s teams. With the clubs growth of membership the club as since move to Wandarrah Reserve until the completion of a new two storey facility ($730,000.00) to be built at Birriwa Reserve. Once this complex is completed the club will have two fields with the mini’s and junior teams remaining at Wandarrah and the senior teams moving back to Birriwa Reserve.

At the completion of the 2008 season it is anticipated that Wandarrah Reserve will have new light towers installed for the 2009 competition season which will free up the congestion currently being experienced at Birriwa Reserve for team night training. Additionally, it is anticipated that the surroundings of the facility at Wandarrah Reserve will receive a new look court yard at the front of the canteen.

The 2007 season proved to be a successful year for the club with several teams winning their respective divisions and number of teams winning the Ron Dine Memorial Club. It should also be noted that the clubs U15 side entered the Kanga Cub and took the title of U15’s Kanga Cup Winners for 2007 and it is anticipated that three teams from the club will participate in the 2008 Kanga Cup.

The club is a family club and encourages all members to actively participate and support the various teams within the club. The parents provide enormous amount support within any club and as President I would encourage parents and supports to continue that support throughout the 2008 competition season. Additionally, I encourage all teams to play in a competitive manner without losing sight of what sport is all about and that is fun.

All the best for 2008
Alan Dudley - President
