Game Leader Expression of Interest – Wandarrah Reserve, Mount Annan, Summer Comp on Wednesday and Thursdays

Dates: Starts Wednesday 14 October 2026, concludes Thursday 17 December (10 weeks)

Are you aged 10–15 and love being part of the game? We’re looking for enthusiastic young Game Leaders to help officiate our MiniRoos matches (Under 5s to Under 7s) on Wednesday and/or Thursday afternoons from 5:15pm.

As a Game Leader, you’ll help make the games fun and fair, support our youngest players, and gain real on-field experience. No prior refereeing experience is needed—training will be provided to help you feel confident and ready.

You’ll also earn $10 per match, making it a great way to build confidence, develop leadership skills, and earn some pocket money while supporting your club community.

If you’re keen to get involved, complete the EOI form below and join the officiating team!

Terms and conditions

  • Program: Junior Game Leader (Under 5–Under 7 matches)
Eligibility: Children aged 10 to 15 years

By signing up as a Game Leader, the participant and their parent/guardian agree to the following:

    1. Role Overview
Game Leaders help officiate Under 5 to Under 7 soccer games.

Each game is 40 minutes long.

Two adult coaches (one from each team) will be on the field to help manage players and safety.

The Game Leader’s role is to:

Start and stop play using a whistle

Keep the game moving fairly and safely

Record the score and any key notes (e.g., goals, incidents)

    2. What Game Leaders Must Bring and Wear
Game Leaders must come to each game with:

    A whistle

A notepad and pen to record scores and notes

    Comfortable clothing suitable for running

Joggers/closed sports shoes (no sandals, thongs, or open shoes)

On the day, the club will provide:

A green vest to be worn over their clothing to identify them as the Game Leader

A match ball for use during the game

    Game Leaders must:

Collect the vest and ball from the canteen before their games.

Wear the green vest for the duration of the games they are officiating.

Return the vest and ball to the canteen immediately after their games.

    3. Health, Fitness and Safety
The participant must be in appropriate health and fitness to:

    Run around for 40 minutes

Stand and move for the duration of the game

Respond quickly if players need guidance or if there is a safety issue

If the child is unwell, injured, or not fit to run, they should not officiate that day and must tell a parent/guardian and club coordinator.

Parents/guardians are responsible for deciding whether their child is fit to participate on the day.

    4. Behaviour and Conduct
    Game Leaders agree to:

Be respectful to players, coaches, parents, and other officials.

Use a calm, friendly tone suitable for young children.

Follow instructions from the club coordinator or designated club official.

Not use offensive language, aggressive behaviour, or rough physical contact.

Stop play if they feel unsafe or unsure, and seek help from an adult coach or the club coordinator.

Game Leaders are not required to follow directions from the adult coaches on the field regarding how to run the game. Coaches are present to support their own players, not to direct the Game Leader.

    5. Supervision, Support and Rule Explanations
Game Leaders are not left alone to manage games.

Two adult coaches will always be on the field to help with:

    Player behaviour

    Safety issues

The club coordinator (or designated adult official) is responsible for:

Explaining the rules and format of the games to Game Leaders

Answering questions about how to run the game

Providing support and guidance before and during the session

Game Leaders should ask the club coordinator if they are unsure about anything to do with rules, scoring, or game management.

    6. Attendance and Commitment
Game Leaders (with their parent/guardian) should:

Arrive on time for their scheduled games.

Let the club know as soon as possible if they cannot attend a scheduled game.

The club may adjust Game Leader allocations based on availability, behaviour, and suitability.

    7. Allowance and Equipment
Game Leaders will receive a $10 cash allowance per session they officiate.

Payment will be made in cash by the club coordinator or designated official after the session, once the vest and ball have been returned to the canteen.

The green Game Leader vest and match ball are provided by the club and remain club property.

Game Leaders are expected to take reasonable care of the vest and ball and return them to the canteen after their games.

    8. Voluntary Role (No Employment)
Being a Game Leader is a voluntary, non-employment role.

The $10 cash allowance is a small contribution towards time and effort and does not create an employment relationship.

Game Leaders are not employees or officials of Mt Annan Mustangs FC.

The club provides this opportunity to help young people learn leadership and basic officiating skills in a supported environment.

    9. Risk and Responsibility
Soccer is a physical activity and there is a normal risk of minor bumps, falls, and injuries.

The club takes reasonable steps to provide a safe environment, including adult supervision and modified rules for young age groups.

Parents/guardians acknowledge these normal risks and agree that their child participates at their own risk, except where the club is legally liable.

Game Leaders must follow all safety instructions given by club staff.

    10. Code of Conduct and Child Safety
Game Leaders must follow the club’s general expectations for behaviour and respect.

Any concerns about a Game Leader’s safety, wellbeing, or behaviour will be discussed with their parent/guardian and may result in the Game Leader stepping back from the role.

    11. Changes to These Terms
The club may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time.

Any important changes will be communicated to Game Leaders and their parents/guardians.
